BoomPop’s Q4 Offsite: A Chance to Connect, Focus, & Recharge

At BoomPop, we recognize the importance of corporate retreats as more than just an everyday work trip. It is an opportunity to re-establish culture, allow everyone to feel valued and belong, create meaningful experiences for your team, and align your team on its greater mission.

In the day to day hustle and bustle of life, there are movements happening really quickly in a company all the time. Whether it is something small like a change in email template, or something big like a new department creation, companies are always growing and changing.

With remote work becoming increasingly prevalent, companies scaling rapidly, and day-to-day stress continuously mounting, it is important to unwind, relax, and re-center. This way your team can peek their heads above the clouds and see the bigger picture, while also having a chance to develop more energy and enthusiasm toward their work.

This is exactly what we did at our Q4 Offsite in Carefree, Arizona at CIVANA Wellness Resort & Spa.

Here’s a recap of the ways we built community, culture, and impact in our organization through our time together in Arizona. We hope our experiences serve as inspiration for creating unforgettable offsites for your organization.

Creating Community & Meaning Through Offsites

With a rapidly expanding team here at BoomPop, we wanted to ensure that everyone that joined our team felt welcomed and included. This starts with a good first impression. For our welcome dinner, we were able to have a private event with custom catering and gift some BoomPop swag. Going above and beyond by having gifts for our team made them feel appreciated and welcomed right away. In pairing with a welcome dinner, this allowed our team to feel comfortable and included—ready to take on the week ahead.

“The swag was a fun surprise. It added a special touch that made it even more memorable. Overall, it was a fantastic experience that highlights the beauty of BoomPop’s company culture,” said Event Specialist, Beverly Lamour.

To play on our theme of connection, our Event Designer, Heidi Precob, led a music themed workshop where we would share our favorite songs and what they meant to us so we could learn about each other in an intentional way not just as coworkers but as people too.

Focusing on the smaller details of community building when planning offsites can help create a sense of genuine belonging. These details, although they seem little, can really help create a happy and focused team culture.

“Since the offsite, we have already seen an uptick in cross-team collaboration virtually. I speak on behalf of the whole team that we all feel re-energized about our product, team, and vision!” said Director of Operations, Sarah Smith.

Connecting Through Memorable Experiences

For activities, we incorporated experiences to learn more about the surrounding Arizona culture. We traveled through the Sonoran Desert and enjoyed the sunset. We also went to the Buffalo Chip Saloon for line dancing lessons and southwestern food.

Inclusion and Belonging

Having the opportunity to feel accepted and included, along with a strong company mission being established at the offsite, allowed our team to feel a sense of rejuvenation. New team members such as Operations Associate, Abhi Gadudasu, were able to feel like they belonged right away: “I found so much value in getting face time with the rest of the team at my first BoomPop offsite. I feel like we are super aligned on our goals, but more importantly, I feel a personal connection to everyone.”

As our company grows, events like our Arizona offsite will allow us to maintain the culture we have established while also welcoming new faces as valuable team members that truly belong.

Offsites help us to make the most of our in-person time together, and create memories that propel our vision forward. Each incredible experience we had gave us deeper insight into how we can make an event platform that empowers other companies to grow and thrive in all aspects.
